I'm Jessica and I am the NEW Newsletter Editor here at Daily Mom! I have been a part of the Daily Mom tribe for over four years now and in that time it has found a place in my heart as my home away from home. It has connected me to a group of women (writers and readers alike) that have made motherhood better every step of the way. Now, I get the chance to deliver you a weekly dose of all of my favorite things going on on the site-and to say I am excited is an understatement. All around the country kids have either just started school or are gearing up to start school. The internet is abuzz with first day of school photos, sad and excited parent updates, and hilarious memes. Here's the deal parents, in my little bit of extra time (wait, what is extra time? For me it is the 20 minutes I have been spending in the pickup line) I have been perusing and I have decided that if nothing else, being a parent is the most confusing and conflicting thing in the world. Seriously though, we can't wait for our kids to start school and then the second they are gone our hearts sink a little and we are ready for them to come back. My message for you during these first few weeks of school is to just take it all in, enjoy it-all of it, sit with the joy and sit with the sadness for just a little bit and know that no matter how you are feeling, you are not alone. We dedicate our lives to raising up these little humans and it is an emotional rollercoaster. Know that school and the Fall season will bring its own set of adventures and challenges. So take a few deep breaths, smile, cry a couple of tears if you need to and know that you've got this! And if it all feels like too much, you have our permission to replace that coffee with a mimosa. |
