WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GO HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS "Unlike in decades past, many families no longer live near their extended families. Many of us live thousands of miles apart because of careers or lifestyle choices making it difficult to decide what to do when it comes to the holiday season: should you stay home with your little family or pack up and head back to your home state? You want to spend the time with the people you love, but is the stress of it all worth the effort?" ---------------------------------------- FACT: I live in Ohio and my family is spread out in Connecticut, New York, and Florida. Most of our holidays are spent split between Connecticut and New York. This is the first year we aren't packing the car and headed home to run from place to place. We opted to head east for a few days before the holidays and get in some NYC Christmas time (without it the holidays just aren't the same to us) and then head home to ring in Christmas in our own home. While I am excited for a calm and quiet few days spent in my pajamas, I never expected to feel a little sad. Every year I make myself crazy on these trips hauling the presents around, trying to appease everybody. There is something to be said for said for visiting your family, always cherish anytime you get to spend with them. |
