Here we are back at Sunday, just like that.  It seems that the weeks can be so long and the weekends can be so short.  It makes it so important to treasure the time you have with your families.

We live just outside of Pittsburgh and for religious and personal reasons the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre yesterday hit really close to home for us.  In times like this, regardless of your political  or religious affiliation it is important to stick together and offer kindness to one another and teach kindness, empathy and acceptance to out children.

I hope everyone finds a little extra time to squeeze in hugs and quality time on this October Sunday.

5 WAYS FOR PARENTS TO BECOME SAVVY ABOUT HIDDEN ADDED SUGARS
Alright, I know Halloween is just a few days away and as a parent it would be just downright mean to cut out sugar this week.  We aren't even telling you to cut out sugar.  However, kids in America consume a scary and dangerous amount of it.  Arming yourself with the knowledge of knowing where is it hiding is a great step to reducing your children's intake.

------------------------------------------------

"Children's sugar intake is a predictor of obesity and parents play a key role in sugar intake management. Ask 10 parents how much added sugar their child consumes each day and there's a good chance that at least 9 of them will have no clue, or will underestimate it. In fact, research published in the International Journal of Obesity reported that 92 percent of parents surveyed in the study underestimated the added sugar content in foods and beverages. The study also showed that kids are more likely to be overweight when their parents are misinformed about sugar in their kids' diet."
